About Art in the Vault:

There are two basic notions that inform our business practices:

Our main purpose is to provide exceptional fine art at sensible prices.

Secondly, we attempt to provide a comfortable atmosphere in which to view the art: both from the coziness of your home via the Internet and in our relaxed and welcoming abodes. We aim to distinguish ourselves from the typical gallery setting that is sometimes a bit pretentious, its staff a tad unapproachable.

This site, this venture is more about the opportunity to spread the word about the special role of art in our lives.

We hope you share our enthusiasm for the work of these artists and thank you for perusing these pages.

Who we are:

Lisa Coscino – Founding Partner, Principal Curator

The consummate art-professional, Lisa Coscino is the owner of the Lisa Coscino Galleries, which feature the work of emerging and mid-career artists from across the United States and specialize in artists living and working in California. In addition, her galleries have exhibited the work of a number of critically established artists, such as Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Sol Lewitt, Carl Andre, Joseph Kosuth, Carlos Almaraz, Frank Romero, Roberto gil de Montes, and Richard Tuttle.

Before opening her galleries, Lisa had a highly successful career in the art world having worked with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles, the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Boston and having served as the longtime director of the Jan Turner Gallery in West Hollywood. Lisa earned her BA in psychology from Occidental College.

The Lisa Coscino Galleries are located in Pacific Grove and San Jose, California.

Michael Hicks – Founding Partner, Event Coordinator

Mike has a knack for getting things done. He recruits artists, curates shows and throws a helluva party. He is a highly valued event coordinator who regularly organizes shows attended by thousands of people. Mike is a National Board Certified English teacher in South Central Los Angeles and an avid art collector. Mike earned his BA in Journalism from Cal State Los Angeles.

Ed Tellefsen – Founding Partner, Idea Guy, Arm-chair Art Critic

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. The idea for Art in the Vault came to Ed after a margarita or dos at Joselito's in Montrose, CA. Apparently, the entire process revealed itself to him in one of Alfredo de Batuc's tortillas.

Ed schemes, he plots, he curates shows, handles the finances and even donates the services of his company, Pacific Web Development, to host and maintain our site. He earned his BA in English from Occidental College and finished a mind-numbing thesis on Borges in order to take delivery of his Master’s Degree in Literature from Cal State Los Angeles.

Abe Abdelhadi – Art Recruiter and Sales

Chances are, you’ve had lunch with Abe, had coffee with Abe or at least, given him your phone number; all roads lead to Rome and all friendships lead to Abe. He is a chatterbox, a raconteur, an orator of the highest order. Abe introduced us to some of our most dazzling artists. His optimism is uplifting, his cheeriness inspiring. If he chose to, he could sell you a bag of air but he uses his powers of persuasion for good. Abe earned his BA in Marketing (with a minor in English) from Cal Poly Pomona.

John Teichert – Design

Who knew how complicated the production of selling art is? We didn't, I'll tell you that much. John makes it simpler. He does our layouts, works on the catalogs, photographs the art, converts slides to .jpegs, jpegs to gifs and water into wine. He is the most cheerful individual you'll ever meet, and will probably remain that way as long as the Patriots and Red Sox continue to dominate.
